how to cook a fresh pumpkin

Asked 11/10/2012 by fiveyearmother

You might want to check and see if it is a pie pumpkin. If it is a pumpkin grown for carving, they are a bit tough and have more strings than a pie pumpkin (from the produce dept).

A pumpkin can be cut in half and placed cut side down on a baking sheet. Bake like squash for about 1 hour at 350 degree until soft. The pumpkin can be scraped out and mashed. Use it in a recipe calling for pumpkin.
