Once I prepare a cake mix batter, how soon do I have to bake it? Is there a way to save it for a day or two?

Cake mix batter is not formulated to be mixed and kept for days. If you don't have enough pans, we recommend refrigerating batter while one pan bakes. As soon as the first pan bakes, bake the second. The leavening in the cake will start to deterioriate and create a very dense, tough product. You might find these Cake Baking Tips helpful.
