Creamy Clam Chowder, crusty bread and a salad makes a satisfying dinner. To make clam chowder thicker, sprinkle about a tablespoon of flour over the cooked bacon and onion after draining off the fat. Mix well and slowly add the liquid from the recipe and cook until thick. You can also thicken soup by stirring in instant mashed potatoes. I make a lot of homemade soups in the oven in a big Dutch oven and let them cook down. A couple of hours makes a really thick and rich soup. Happy soup making!
