Sugar cookies are meant to create melt-in-your-mouth delicious memories.. By omitting powdered sugar, you would destroy the perfect balance of butter and sugar. Some bakers have made substitutions like using a cup of granulated sugar for every 1 3/4 cups of powdered sugar or blending (in a blender) 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch to use for a cup of powdered sugar. Sugar substitutes are also used for dietary reasons, all of which will change the texture as well as taste of the cookie. Everyone has a favorite sugar cookie recipe.
